Some rescue stories remind us that even in the most uncertain moments, hope has a way of shining through. That’s exactly how Tofu’s journey began.

One rainy night in Thao Dien, a homeless man was seen riding his motorbike through the streets with five tiny puppies balanced carefully alongside his own two dogs. One of our incredible supporters spotted him and stopped to ask if he needed help. At first, there was some confusion—she thought the puppies belonged to his dogs. But as it turned out, this kind-hearted man had found the puppies abandoned in a cardboard box and couldn’t bring himself to leave them behind.

It was late, and pouring with rain, but we arranged for him to meet us the next morning at our vet clinic. True to his word, he arrived—soaked from the storm but determined to give these little lives a chance. He brought his two dogs as well, and thanks to his trust and our supporters, we were able to sterilize them and ensure their future health and safety.

As for the five puppies, we couldn’t believe how healthy and well-natured they were, despite everything they’d been through. And with their adorable little ridges, it was clear they were Ridgebacks—beautiful, resilient, and full of spirit.

It didn’t take long for one of these sweet pups, Tofu, to steal some hearts. A wonderful couple, who had planned to wait until their travels were over to adopt, simply couldn’t resist her charm. Week after week, they visited Tofu for playdates at their apartment, falling more in love with her every time.

And when their travels ended, they made it official—Tofu was home for good. She is now the apple of their eye, living her best life filled with endless cuddles, fun adventures, and all the love she could ever dream of.
