January Happy Tails

The start of the year at the shelter has been full of care and steady momentum. While January has been a quieter month as we plan for the year ahead, there’s still plenty to catch up on, from new arrivals and medical milestones to adoption spotlights and a look ahead to what’s planned in February.

New Arrivals

Meet Rose, our newest rescue and the first dog we have been able to help through restaurant closures connected to our work alongside Humane World.

Despite her past, Rose is gentle, calm, and incredibly loving. Trust takes a moment for her, but once she feels safe, her beautiful personality begins to shine. Learn more about Rose on her profile on our website.

Meet Rose

January has been a month of care and milestones for our rescue dogs.

All our puppies received their final round of vaccinations. Meanwhile, Latte, Skye, Grace, Maddi, Shaq and Kobe completed their sterilisations, an important step towards getting them adopted, and supporting a healthier, more sustainable dog community.

As we prepare to welcome the Lunar New Year, we’re hoping to begin the new year with a clean slate by closing our outstanding vet bill and starting the year debt-free.

Behind every healthy dog is planning, care, and the generosity of our supporters. Thanks to our community and your donations, we can continue to keep every pup safe and give them the best possible start.

Adoption Spotlights

Tom (now Smokey)

  • Tom is the only male puppy from Kiki’s litter, and from the start he matched his sisters in confidence, charm, and sweetness. Kiki’s pregnancy was unexpected after we missed the chance to sterilize her in time, and her owner, Ms Trang, did not have the means to care for the puppies. We stepped in to support the litter.

As he grew, Tom showed himself to be a playful, people-loving pup who was always ready for cuddles and a good game of tug. His confidence and happy nature made him a joy to be around, and it didn’t take long for him to catch the attention of the perfect family.

Tom was adopted by a wonderful family living in a spacious villa in District 9, giving him plenty of room to run, explore, and burn off his puppy energy. Now renamed Smokey, he has also gained a human brother, and the two are growing and learning together. Between beach trips, park runs, and life at home, Smokey is thriving in every way.

Cassie

  • Cassie, one of Tom’s sisters from Kiki’s litter, grew up showing the same bright, confident spirit as her siblings. Playful, affectionate, and always ready to engage, she quickly became known for her happy energy and love of people.

Cassie was adopted by a family living close to our shelter, which made the transition especially smooth. With a four-year-old child in the home, she found the perfect match for her energy and enthusiasm. Together, they spend their days playing, learning, and growing side by side.

Cassie’s story is a reminder of how the right match brings out the very best in a rescue dog.

Churro

  • Churro’s story began with loss. Her mother sadly passed away while giving birth, and Churro was the only puppy to survive. As a tiny newborn, she needed round-the-clock care, and our team stepped in to give her the support she needed to pull through. Day by day, Churro grew stronger, proving just how resilient she was.

Raised in the shelter alongside other dogs, Churro developed into a confident, affectionate pup. She is playful, well socialized, and loves both cuddles and a good game. Her happy energy and loving nature made her a joy to be around.

Churro was adopted by a wonderful family in Long An who live in a home with a large garden, giving her plenty of space to run and explore. She also gained a human sibling who is deeply involved in her training, and the two have already formed a special bond. Churro’s days are now filled with play, learning, and love.

Zara

  • Zara’s journey began during a heavy rainstorm in Thao Dien, where she was spotted wandering the streets in search of shelter. For several days, our team and a kind rescuer tried to reach her, but she managed to stay just out of sight. Eventually, a compassionate woman noticed Zara hiding under a car near a large apartment complex, limping badly. She acted quickly and brought Zara to our vet clinic.

Thankfully, Zara did not need surgery for her injured leg. With treatment, rest, and care, she made a strong recovery. During her time with us, she showed just how loving and resilient she was, forming close bonds with both our adult and student volunteers. Her gentle nature and trust in people made her a joy to be around.

Zara was adopted by an expat family living not far from the shelter. Perfectly sized for apartment life, she has settled beautifully into her new home. Seeing her thrive after being left on the streets with an injured leg is a powerful reminder of how much the right care and a loving family can change a life.
