We have been busy the past month of milestones and events, and September is going to be even bigger! Let’s dive in to this months Happy Tails.

New Milestones

Last month, we had no new arrivals, which gave our older puppies undivided attention to work on their leash training. Mina, Rina and Tilly are heading out daily with our amazing volunteers, learning the basics and building their confidence - all in the hope of finding their forever homes.

They may not have mastered it perfectly just yet, but one thing is safe to say: they’re determined!

Join the Care Collective

The Care Collective is the community of monthly supporters whose ongoing contributions provide the stability needed to sustain rescue, rehabilitation, and shelter operations at Laws for Paws Vietnam.

More puppies = more first vaccines, tick and flea, dewormer, and blood test panels.

Monthly support allows us to plan ahead, maintain consistent standards of care, and provide the long term care our dogs require. Your monthly support directly determines the level of care we can provide.

Driving Change

Do you remember Lucky? The senior poodle who came to us with severe infections and parasites, an enlarged spleen and liver, and a bullet lodged in her forehead.

We’re so happy to announce that, thanks to the Critical Care Fund, Lucky has undergone intensive treatment for blood parasites and a fungal infection, and has completed her first surgery to remove the bullet.

She’s recovering well and will soon undergo her spay and dental surgery.

But perhaps most importantly, Lucky has found her forever home with the family who rescued and fostered her.

Recently, she went to the beach for the very first time with her furry siblings. You wouldn’t recognise the dog in the photos below.

From a life of suffering to beach days with her family - living the life she deserves.

Adoption Spotlights

Gabbi

At just six weeks old, Gabbi was found alone on the streets, weak and in pain after being cruelly stabbed with a sharp object. She was also battling demodex, a skin condition that left her fragile and uncomfortable. By every measure, this tiny puppy had been through more than any dog should ever face. And yet she held on, trusting and sweet from the very beginning.
Gabbi was placed in a foster home to recover, and the transformation was remarkable. Her skin healed beautifully and her coat began to grow back, along with her confidence and joy. By the time she joined the pack at the shelter, it was clear this little girl had never let the world harden her.
It was there that she met Maria, one of our volunteers, who took her on as a foster and simply never looked back. What started as fostering became something permanent and beautiful. Gabbi never had to say goodbye.
She now lives with Maria, navigating life fluently in Spanish, English, and Vietnamese. We couldn't have written a better ending.

Buddy

Buddy was one of five puppies left outside our vet clinic, abandoned without a second thought. But from the moment he arrived, it was clear this little guy had no intention of letting a rough start define him. Playful, affectionate, and endlessly curious, he made up for being the smallest of the litter with the biggest personality in the room. A wagging tail, a love of toys, and an equally enthusiastic approach to cuddles — Buddy was ready to pour all of that into the right family.
He found them in a wonderful multigenerational household where he quickly became everyone's favourite. His human sister in particular has completely claimed him as her own, and the feeling is very much mutual. He goes out for walks with the family and comes home to a house full of people who think the world of him.
For a puppy left on a doorstep, he ended up with everything.

Mai

Kobe came into the world right here in our compound, born to a sweet mama dog we couldn't quite get to the vet in time. Surrounded by love from the very start, he still faced an early hurdle, a severe flea and tick infestation that meant a stint at the vet clinic before he could properly begin shelter life. He powered through without missing a beat.
Back at the shelter and reunited with his brother Shaq, Kobe came into his own. Striking coat, soft features, a lovable little bounce in his step, and a personality to match. Playful, gentle, and surprisingly cuddly, he charmed every single person he met.
His forever family clearly felt the same way. A lovely couple took him home and have helped him grow in confidence ever since, coaxing out the best version of an already wonderful little dog. Kobe now goes everywhere with them, exploring the best coffee spots Saigon has to offer and picking up new tricks along the way, thanks to two very dedicated and very smitten parents.
