July has been a steady start to Q3. Through the slow summer period our community has kindly stepped up. ο»ΏWith many new volunteers, Seek Sophie guests and community support. Thank you.
Hereβs what we have been up to this month; new arrivals, community cases, and successful adoptions.
New Arrivals
Fifi
(Adopted)
Tiny, fluffy and completely fearless, Fifi is full of confidence and charm. She loves people, adores other dogs and has already mastered sleeping through the night on her own. Her playful, affectionate nature makes her impossible not to love.
5 Siblings
Bruno (M), Tommy (M), Rio (M), Son (M) and Abbie (F)
These five sweet siblings were born on 15 May at another shelter alongside their mum. When the shelterβs sole caretaker faced an unexpected health crisis, we stepped in to bring the most vulnerable dogs into our care.
All with their own personalities, these pups are happy, healthy and ready for their forever homes.
Driving Change
Not every dog who needs our help is homeless.
Many of the emergency cases we support already have families who love them.
But when a serious accident or illness strikes, the cost of life-saving treatment can be more than an owner can afford, leaving them with heartbreaking choices.
At Laws for Paws Vietnam, we've always chosen to say yes. We approve emergency treatment first and deal with the financial burden afterwards - because when a dog's life is on the line, there isn't time to wait.
The Critical Care Fund was created so we can continue doing exactly that.
Dedicated solely to emergency cases, the fund allows us to respond immediately when urgent care is needed. And if donations aren't needed for one case, they remain in the fund for the next emergency - ensuring every contribution is always ready when it's needed most.
Right now, that emergency is Lucky.
An 8 year old senior poodle, found at the docks of District 8, soaked, covered in fleas, and hiding from the rain.
When Lucky arrived at our vet, a full examination revealed a bullet lodged in her head (confirmed on X-ray), an abnormally enlarged spleen and liver, positive results for E. canis, anaplasmosis, and babesiosis (a serious blood parasite infection), a chronic fungal infection, and heavily soiled teeth.
Lucky's treatment is being made possible through the Critical Care Fund, allowing us to focus on saving her life rather than raising the money first. If you'd like to support the Critical Care Fund, find the donation link below.
Adoption Spotlights
Bubbles

Bubbles' road to finding her forever home was longer and harder than most. She was initially rescued by Mr. Nha, a long-time rescuer here in Vietnam, but the shelter wasn't equipped to manage the complex needs of a Siberian Husky with a thick double coat and dislocated hind legs that made walking painful and difficult. She was adopted once, but returned after six months, her condition still undiagnosed and untreated. Vet visits had come and gone without the x-rays that would have revealed the true extent of what she was dealing with.
When her foster family reached out to us for help, we took her in without hesitation. It didn't take long to understand both her challenges and her character. Bubbles tested positive for blood parasites, which delayed the surgery she needed for her legs, but through every setback her personality never wavered. Sweet, friendly, and full of love, she made it impossible not to root for her.
The adoption we found for Bubbles was everything we could have hoped for. Her new owner came with extensive experience with Huskies and Malamutes, and had navigated complex canine health needs before, including dogs with seizures. He understood exactly what Bubbles needed and was ready to provide it. They have since moved outside the city to a house surrounded by greenery, with a single level layout that means no stairs or elevators for Bubbles to manage.
It is the kind of adoption that reminds us why we never give up on the dogs that need us most.
Boba

By the time Boba came to us, he had already been passed between three different families, all in just one year of life. It was a kind individual who finally helped him find his way to the shelter, where he could get the stability and care he deserved.
Despite everything, Boba arrived with his spirit completely intact. Trusting, people-loving, and bursting with energy and curiosity, he was everything you'd want in a one year old Poodle. The instability of his past had done nothing to dampen him. What he needed most was someone who truly understood the breed.
That's exactly what he got. His new family came with years of Poodle experience and it showed immediately. Where three previous owners had struggled, they had him toilet trained within days. It turned out Boba didn't have a behaviour problem at all. He simply needed people who spoke his language. He now lives with an older Poodle sibling and is absolutely thriving, finally in a home that knows how to bring out the best in him.
Mai

Mai was rescued from the streets by a woman who loved dogs deeply and already had three at home. The plan was to find Mai a forever family, but life intervened unexpectedly. When her owner lost her job and had to move somewhere that didn't allow pets, Mai and her three canine companions were brought to our partner vet clinic. A small deposit was left, goodbyes were said, and Mai was left behind, confused and heartbroken.
One by one, her three companions found new homes. Mai waited quietly, her eyes still carrying the sadness of that day. Patient, gentle, and hopeful, she never stopped trusting that someone would come for her too. We stepped in to make sure they would.
They did. A single man with an active lifestyle and a rescue dog of his own opened his home and his heart to her. Mai and her new canine companion took to each other immediately, and it wasn't long before the sadness in her eyes began to fade. Recently the whole family made the move to Dalat, settling into a house with a garden, fresh air, and all the space two dogs and an active owner could want.
Mai was never going to be left behind forever. She just needed the right person to come and prove it.
