Donnie
My Rescue Tale
In February 2021, our hearts were touched when we found Little Donnie dragging himself along the street, both back legs nonfunctional. Swiftly rescued and taken to the vet, the diagnosis revealed severe nerve damage in one leg, needing amputation, while the other suffered atrophy from lack of movement. After months of rehabilitation, you’d hardly tell he has 3 legs because nothing stops Donnie.
Undeterred by his challenges, Donnie has defied the odds with his inspiring progress, aided by a specially designed wheelchair from Forever Wheelchair. Nothing holds him back from savoring the joys of life! HHe is a fan favorite at the shelter with adult and student volunteers and he is also the face of our education program spreading awareness of safe pet care- he is low key famous!
Donnie is a testament to resilience and zest for life. Ready to bring this spirited charmer into your home? Send us a message to meet Little Donnie and witness the boundless love he radiates!
More About Me
🌟 Breed: Cairns Terrier mix
🌟 Gender: Male
🌟 Age: Approximately 7-10 years old
🌟 Size: He is small and ideal for apartment living
🌟 Health: Vaccinated & sterilized. Due to his injuries Donnie is incontinent so he requires a family that is understanding of this. He loves scooting around in his wheelchair and enjoys short walks outside to enjoy the fresh air.
🌟 Temperament: Donnie is very friendly with humans- he loves cuddles and will happily nap next to your feet all day long.
🌟 Compatibility: Because of his limited range of movement, Donnie often becomes protective of his space when it comes to other dogs so he would best suit a family where he can be the only dog to get all the love and attention. He is great with kids and is family-friendly.
