Our 3 Week Catch Up!
The past few weeks at the shelter have been busy! Full of care, milestones, and community moments, this blog is covering three weeks’ worth of updates! From rescue stories and fun events to celebrating dogs finding their forever homes, there’s plenty to catch up on.
New Arrivals
It’s been an exciting few weeks at the shelter as we welcomed eight new furry friends to the Laws for Paws family: Kobe, Shaq, Boo, Tilly, Scooby, Buffy, Joy, and Bodhi! Already full of personality and charm, they’re settling in wonderfully and spreading plenty of love (and just a touch of mischief).
Come meet these adorable newcomers and see how they’re making themselves at home! Join one of our volunteer walks, running Tuesday to Sunday.
Medical Milestones
October has been a month of care and milestones for our rescue dogs. All our puppies received their first vaccinations and deworming, giving them a healthy start and protecting them from common diseases. Meanwhile, Gabbi and Kiki (Shaq and Kobe’s mum) completed their sterilisations, an important step in supporting a healthier, more sustainable dog community.
Behind every healthy dog is planning, care, and the generosity of our supporters. Thanks to our community and your donations, we can continue to keep every pup safe and give them the best possible start.

Oct Event Highlights
October was full of engaging events, stories, and connection. From community walks to informative sessions, our activities brought people and dogs together to support rescue efforts and promote responsible pet care.
Paws to Park
Our much-loved Paws to Park event brought together wagging tails, happy faces, and our amazing community for a day of connection and fun. Huge thanks to Vừa Vừa for the beautiful, dog-friendly space, to Mark from Dog Walkers in Thảo Điền for leading the walk, and to Sawano Portraits for capturing every joyful moment.
Pack Chats: Her Rhythm, Her Power
Last month, we launched a special edition of Pack Chats, co-hosted with the Women’s Business Network HCMC. Centered on menstrual health, energy, and self-care, the evening reminded us that caring for dogs starts with caring for ourselves.
Doggie Dash Mob
Our first-ever Creo Doggy Dash Mob brought runners, walkers, and rescue pups together for a tail-wagging 2K. It was all about fitness, fun, pupacinos, and sharing our rescue dogs and mission.
InterPetFest 2025 – MallPetFest
At Interpetfest MallPetFest 2025, we spent three days sharing rescue stories, meeting adopters, and connecting with the community. Donnie’s and Snowy’s stories reminded everyone why rescue work matters - and how compassion creates change.
Adoption Spotlights
Chewy
-
Chewy’s story begins with his mom, Kelpie, who spent months chained outside a café with no freedom or comfort. When we stepped in to help her last November, she was still a young dog and had recently given birth. We brought Kelpie and her puppies to safety, giving them a warm, secure place to rest and grow.
Chewy joined our shelter pack with his mom, and it didn’t take long for him to capture hearts with his sweet face and easygoing personality. Before long, the perfect family came along and knew he was the dog for them.
Today, Chewy is living the life every pup deserves. His adoptive family includes him in everything - from Sunday morning snuggles to kayak trips on the river. Whether it’s exploring the outdoors or relaxing at home, Chewy is right where he belongs, surrounded by love and adventure.

Buddy
-
For years, Buddy lived with a family in Thao Dien on a plot of land used for construction equipment. When the family moved back to the countryside, they left behind Buddy and two other dogs. Before we could intervene, one of the dogs was stolen by dog thieves. The remaining two were cared for by a kind security guard, Mr Thao, who did everything he could with what he had. Sadly, the female dog passed away from parvovirus shortly after giving birth.
Once we learned what was happening, we stepped in to provide food, medical support, and help find homes for the puppies. All were adopted, but Buddy stayed with Mr Thao until the land was redeveloped and he could no longer keep him.
Buddy joined our shelter soon after and quickly became a volunteer favorite. His gentle, affectionate nature won everyone over, and he showed how smart he was by mastering leash training within weeks. He truly lived up to his name being everyone’s best buddy.
After a few months, the perfect adopter came along. Buddy’s new dad fell in love with his sweet personality and easygoing energy, and Buddy now lives in a loving home with a family who adore him, especially the youngest member who treats him like a best friend.
Buddy’s journey had a tough start, but he found exactly where he was meant to be.

May
-
May’s rescue began in a compound where she had been abandoned, chased away by staff, and left severely malnourished. Security planned to sell her to the slaughterhouse, but a kind woman noticed her and couldn’t ignore her suffering. Although dogs weren’t allowed in her apartment, she called a friend who stepped in and brought May to safety.
At the vet, May was diagnosed with e-canis and extreme malnutrition. With treatment, good food, and gentle care, she made a full recovery. She moved between foster homes for a while, and in every one she showed the same traits — a cuddly, affectionate dog who loved nothing more than curling up beside someone she trusted.
To help her find a permanent home, May joined us at the shelter. Her calm nature and love for people made her an instant favorite among volunteers. After a few months, she finally found exactly what she had been waiting for. Her new dad was looking for a companion for himself and his own dog, and May’s gentle personality was the perfect fit. Now she has a beautiful forever family, a sister to play with, and a life filled with love, comfort, and all the cuddles she adores.
